Pecan Pie Recipe
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening or lard
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup salted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
- 1/3 cup melted salted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup (light or dark)
- 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3 whole eggs beaten
- 1 cup (heaping) chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Method of Preparation
First of all prepare the crust by mixing the flour together with salt in a bowl and add the vegetable shortening and butter with added salt. Use a dough cutter to work out the butter into the flour and mix well until it is pebble-like.
Beat the eggs into a combination of white vinegar and 5 tablespoons of cold water and whisk until evenly combined then divide half of the dough and set aside to wait for the appropriate time to be used.
After you have prepared the crust, the next thing you want to do is to mix together in a medium bowl the granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, butter, syrup, corn, eggs and salt.
