CAUSES OF COUGHING
To many, coughing may be embarrassing. However, it is one of the body’s natural mechanisms for getting rid of foreign and unwanted substances from the lungs. It is absolutely normal to cough once in a while. However, when cough becomes so regular or frequent, they could be signs of a potential health complication.

1. SEVERE LUNG SICKNESSES OR CHRONIC DISEASES

- VIRAL SICKNESSES
Viral infections are among the causes of cough. A common cold may cause mucus to drain into the throat and this can trigger a cough.
2. STOMACH ACID
The gastric acid in the stomach may occasional find its way into the lungs. This causes irritations in the lungs and this may trigger a cough.
Smoking of cigarettes and tobacco are major factors as to what causes of coughing. These substances cause damage and irritations to the nerves in the lungs.
Allergies are also among cough causes. The body may react to dusts, fumes, and other chemicals. This may result in a bout of cough.
5. AIR PASSAGE BLOCKAGE
The airway may become choked by food particles as we eat or swallow. More so, it may be choked by some airborne particles as we inhale air therefore this is what causes coughing in most people. The body’s mechanism for unclogging such blocks is through coughing.
6. NASAL DROPS
It is believed that nasal drops into the throat may also be termed as one of the cough causes. They irritate the sensory nerves in the lungs.
